As part of our schoolwide literacy initiative, this month our schools have been rolling out the 100 Book Challenge with students of all ages. Ms. Wrobel (Roosevelt) sent her American Reading Company (ARC) book bags home with books and reading logs for the very first time. She was nervous but went for it, and was proud when all 6 of her students brought the books back, and brought back signed logs!

First grader Justice is new to Falk and is a struggling reader. Ms. Wrobel received a call from his mother who was in tears (of joy) thanking her for sending home the books, and reported it was the first time he has ever read books at home. Justice was engaged, and eager to read to his family at his independent level. He couldn't wait to share his news the next morning at school.

This is a great achievement for all- Justice, his family, his teachers and counselor. Thank you to Ms. Wrobel and to all teachers for rolling out the 100 Book Challenge and promoting ARC tools, materials, and frameworks in a positive way with our students. The look on Justice's face and his reaction to this success was priceless and is the reason we serve our students each day. This is what makes Falk an exceptional place for kids. #FalkForward #sgfpride #KidsDeserveIt
